The intent was that the focal point be the cliff over the water with its contrast with the bright sky. The river leads back to it. The lines of the painting don't align particularly closely with the Armature, but perhaps close enough (full disclosure; the painting was designed with the river leading back to the high contrast area but not using an armature).
