Selected Plein Air Work
When I first began to paint "En plein air" outdoors I felt I was in my element. As a tomboy early on, I loved being outdoors and was happy to return to my roots. And it's a great by-product to know that plein air works help with studio paintings. Note that two of these paintings are not "en plein air": Turbulent Lands I (with a link to its "anatomy") and Turbulent Lands 15x25 (an award winner in the 2024 NM Masterworks Show).. These are included in this list since they were very much based on other plein air paintings; indeed, they require the hands-on study of the unusual landscape in this part of New Mexico - Los Alamos, made recently famous by the move "Oppenheimer". World War II Scientists must have been overwhelmed by the scenery as they approached their new home.
