We used Photoshop to resize the armature, making it smaller but keeping the same aspect ratio; we moved it around until the river aligned with a diagonal (actually a reciprocal here). Magically, other points and lines aligned nicely with the smaller armature, This could be a painting. But in reality, upon looking at the original painting again, we do feel that it aligns nicely with the armature.
